* Batucada is a style of samba with roots in African percussion where everybody plays as 'one' and is characterized by its repetitive style and fast pace.
More info and registration at Parkinson Recreation Centre
* Taught by Yonisha, a Brazilian and former Carnival parade sambista in Rio de Janeiro.

Learn to play some of the many Brazilian percussion instruments that make part of Brazilian Carnival parades. In this course, students will explore the amazing and contagious Brazilian rhythms and play along in a group. Many instruments like pandeiro, tamborim, cuica, agogo, reco-reco and chocalho will be provided or you are welcome to bring your own percussion instrument if desired. This is an excellent course for those interested in becoming more familiar with samba's roots and also for those wanting to improve their musical expression through vocalizing and percussive techniques.
